In 2004, with the help of Tacoma Youth Lacrosse Associate and Todd Thorpe, The Puyallup Lacrosse Club was founded and participated in its first games during the spring of 2005. The first team consisted of 17 boys and girls ranging in grades fourth through eighth. In the spring of 2006, the Puyallup Panthers fielded their first boys’ high school team in Division II of the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association. Coached by John Wherry, the team went on to an impressive first year record of 8 wins, 4 losses. The following year, the club expanded to offer a Junior Varsity and Varsity team. The varsity team improved their record, to 12-2, as well as, advancing through the playoffs to the State Division II Championship Game. Due to Puyallup’s steady play, the club was promoted to Division I in 2008 by the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association.
Today, the Puyallup lacrosse Club provides lacrosse for players in grades 3rd-12th. The club prides itself on being able to provide lacrosse to as many people as possible and in an environment that provides for positive personal and athletic development. The expansion and continued growth of our organization is largely the result of the interest and support of the players, parents and members or our community.
